History of Keystone Heights and The Inn at Palmetto<\/strong>
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city of Keystone Heights was originally developed as a winter resort destination for inhabitants who traveled south from Crawford County Pennsylvania. Those who made the trip were all connected by family, workplace, or friendship. The resort featured a large luxury hotel downtown as well as the lakeside pavilion, an opera house and an amphitheater used while hosting hosting the Chautauqua. The Chautauqua brought entertainment and culture for the whole community, with speakers, teachers, musicians, showmen, preachers, and specialists of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Inn at Palmetto was originally constructed to be a winter home for Leona Clark Caughey, although she never occupied the house.  Leona was an artist who worked for the Keystone View Company in Meadville, Pennsylvania. Leona, along with her husband Ed who was a part owner of the Keystone Lumber Company, lived in a home two blocks to the west on Lake Keystone.   Upon completed construction of the house, her sister Maude and husband Ward Ogden along with their two daughters Arneita and Helen, moved into the home.  Several members of the Clark family had winter homes in town, while others chose to begin living year round in the lake community.  Of particular note, Leona and Maud\u2019s sister, Jenny Clark Strong, owned the house next door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

House Rules<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reservation Policies<\/strong> – 2 night minimum. No cancellations within 72 hours of reservation. Cancellations prior to 72 hours will incur a 10% fee. No online bookings within 24 hours; contact via phone inside of those hours. All online and phone bookings must be paid for by card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check In\/Out Time<\/strong> – Check in 3:00 p.m., Check out time is 11:00 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Identity Documents<\/strong> – All persons staying in the rooms must produce a valid government I.D. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parking<\/strong> – Free parking is located on premises. Please park only in identified spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breakfast<\/strong> – Continental breakfast provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smoking<\/strong> – No smoking, vaping, dipping or any other sort of tobacco use on premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pets<\/strong> – No pets allowed. Contact us for a list of local pet boarders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Room Cleaning<\/strong> – Room cleaning is completed only once every 3 days. Please let us know if you need towels replaced during your stay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fires, Candles, Incense<\/strong> – Making fires or burning of candles or incense is not allowed in rooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parties and Events<\/strong> – No parties allowed in rooms or on premises. We kindly request that only authorized guests enter the house unless prior permission is authorized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
